Who am I? Who you are and Whose you are

Who You are and Whose You Are

Do you ever have days where you feel like you don’t know who you are anymore?

Somedays people, life and events get in the way of our “knowing” and we find ourselves wondering.

You will hear people even say, “I need to find myself!”

“Who am I?”

“Why am I here?”

Those are the days we need reminding, that we are part of something bigger….something connected to a bigger purpose. We pulled together 7 Bible verses to remember who you are and whose you are. You will find more Bible verses about anything and everything to help you forget not the Lord.

We so easily forget who we are.

Whose you are

If you think those questions are hard to answer… what about whose you are?

When you know whose we are as God’s child, you know that you belong to Him and have identity.

But you have an enemy that wants you to forget who you are and who God is.

When we feel like we don’t know who we are, it’s because we have forgotten what Jesus said.

John 15:5

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

     ● Who is making you feel less than who God says you are?

●What are you listening to that makes you doubt who God is?

Remember Who You Are and
Whose You Are

You have an enemy trying to make you forget who you are! Someone or something is distracting you by:

     ● chaos

     ● confusion

     ● criticism

     ● conspiring to harm you.

Whose you are is God’s child. He has given His children the warning of an enemy’s attack and what to do in such a moment.

I Peter 5:7-8

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Humble yourself under God’s mighty hand and know that He cares and loves you! Knowing whose you are, His, can take a huge weight from your mind and ease many anxieties.

The next part we are told is to be “sober-minded” and “watchful”. The enemy is real and has some pretty harsh tactics used to try and take you down. Satan would like nothing more than for you to forget whose you are and who you are. Because when you forget God, you are on your own and easy prey to his schemes.

Like the verse says, “seeking someone to devour”.

Remember whose you are

When you remember whose you are as God’s child, you won’t allow yourself to be the enemy’s next meal. How do you remember whose you are in an enemy’s attack?

● Stay in the Word of God.

● Pray.

● Follow His commands.

● Trust the Lord.

This is not a one time – just remember whose you are and the enemy will go away sort of process. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if that were so? But then how would our faith increase in the Lord if that were the case?

We would think we were able to do it all on our own rather than depend on the one who made us.

Who you are and whose you are can be distracted by the enemy, a roaring lion who wants to devour you-forgethimknot.com

Who You Are in the Bible

You have an enemy!

The enemy’s schemes and tactics are the same since the Garden of Eden. The devil even used those same schemes on Jesus in the wilderness.  What are some of the enemy’s schemes to make you forget whose you are and who you are?

1. Questions.

His questions are meant to cause you confusion and chaos, but God’s questions are meant to clarify your thoughts.

“Did God really say?”

When we don’t actually remember what God says in His Word, we won’t know when the questions come from the enemy.

2. Twisting Truth  ( LIES )

When you don’t know what God’s Word says, we can fall prey to the enemy’s lies. Satan knows God’s Word. He knows his end. He just wants you to forget that part of the story.

Knowing whose you are and who you are is important especially when the lies begin to enter your mind. Maybe you’ve heard some of his lies….

  • You are not loveable.

  • You’re worthless.

  • No one could love you.

  • You have no purpose.

Oh those are real kickers to our hearts and minds aren’t they? But God’s Word is Truth. His Word tells you that you are loved, valuable, that He gave His only Son for you and that you’re purpose is to follow Him in love.

The enemy has a few more tactics in his arsonal to distract you.  or

Know who you are and whose you are

Chaos can make you forget who you are by being busy making money or working to achieve the next level or the next big thing.

Busy-ness is getting your priorities out of order. It can make us forget we are Christians, parents, spouses,  friends and neighbors because we are spinning our wheels to “be” something more. The reality is that most of the people on the list would just like who you are already!

Confusion does just what you think, confuses you about what you believe, what you know and even where you get your information.

Criticism is so destructive to knowing who you are. Are you looking in the mirror with negativity?

Conspiring to harm you can come in so many forms.

You have an enemy that wants to make you doubt what God says and make you think the wrong things about yourself.

Are you believing what God says about you or are you listening to the “world’s version” of what you should be and who you should be?

Our own thoughts can beat us down physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, leaving you feeling worthless and without purpose.

Remember who you are and
whose you are!

You have one purpose wrapped up in two commandments from God.

Mark 12:30-31

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
There is no commandment greater than these.”
Actually, those very words were spoken by The Great I AM.

Love the Lord your God

and then love others.. as yourself!

Identity Bible Verses

I AM knows who He is and who you are, do you? Have you allowed people and things in the world around you to fill you with doubt of who you are and who God is?

That’s not hard to believe when everywhere you go you are slammed with who you should be, what you should look like to be “beautiful”, or what you should be doing. The world would also like to tell you that God did not create the world, is not actively working in your life and does not love you!

Those are all lies to keep you from knowing you are a child of the God.

We need to remember who we are and whose we are, our identity, comes from Jesus, not our job, title or bank account.

The enemy does not care how old you are. Help your children remember whose they are with our Bible Verse Dot Markers and Coloring Books on Amazon.

Surround yourself with these reminders. Find areas to place them around your home, car, work or even yourself with clothing, jewelry or the reflection in the mirror!

Visit our Who you Are for Girls for more reminders.

When our children were at home, we would place sticky notes on their mirrors, walls, doors, and ceiling. They would find a note in a book, in their suitcase if they were staying somewhere overnight and anywhere we could find to impress God’s Word in their life.

The verses from Mark 12, were originally recorded in Deuteronomy to Moses from God. They were true and clear several thousand years ago and still true and clear today!

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Everywhere you go, everything you do and all around you, place God’s reminders of whose you are to help you never forget that you are His.
