Who I am In Christ

The world is full of people trying to “find themselves”. The identity crisis is real. People are looking around the world, social media and to influencers to help them discover who they are, what their purpose is and how to achieve success. But the answers won’t give them peace or truth.

Who you are can only be found in the One who made you and gave you life. Rather than looking to the world, we should look to the Word which shines a light on us to know who I am in Christ!

Who am I?

Sad girl asking who am I?

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.
5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The world cannot tell you who you are apart from God. For the most part the world tell you that you need to be more, have more, do more and then that what you are doing isn’t good enough.

There’s always another product, another exercise, another diet to help you on your journey to be more but the results don’t always help us find who we are. Unfortunately, we find ourselves a carbon copy of someone else who also doesn’t know who they are! “Keeping Up With the Jones”….. or whomever is the current influencer, will always have you chasing after something you were not meant to be.

Why?

Because you were not meant to be a copy of someone else other than the fearfully and wonderfully made unique individual being renewed in the image of your Creator.

Colossians 3:9-10

Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices
10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

The Creator of the world could have made it black and white and we would not have known any other color. black white trees

But He didn’t.

He chose to give the world light that allows colors to be displayed and the details so tiny that even our eyes cannot see them all. He did so because He could and it brought Him pleasure.

He did the same with you! If the Creator of the world and all that is in it would work with details so amazing that no two snowflakes, leaves, grains of sand and even your fingerprints are unique. Why would you doubt that even you are created with such amazing and special details that are only you.

If you are struggling with who you are, please remind yourself of who God says you are in Christ! Look at your fingerprints and remember that you are special to Him.

Who I Am In Christ

I Am Valuable

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Matthew 6:25-27

I Am Pure

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
3 And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. 1 John 3:1-3

I Am Loved

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

I Am New

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.  2 Corinthians 5:17

I Am Chosen

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
11Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.
12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.  1 Peter 2:9-12

But that's not all. In Christ I have...

In Christ I have everything I need

Before the beginning of time, God had a plan and a purpose set in place for you. Everything you need is accessible through Jesus Christ.

When you feel like you have no purpose or are weak, when you think there’s no way anyone could love you, remember these Truths.

In Christ I have love

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
