4 Guided Bible Adventures for Kids 14 pages

What do you do when you’re afraid?

The Bible talks about fear a lot—but instead of simply handing kids a list of verses that say “Fear not,” this Bible Adventure invites them to open God’s Word and discover why they can have courage.

Remy guides kids to find clues through Scripture, notice important words and patterns, investigate familiar Bible stories a little more closely, and record what to discover along the way.

And one of the first discoveries might surprise them:

David was afraid too. The giant-fighting, lion-and-bear-facing David wrote:

“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” — Psalm 56:3

Fear didn’t mean David had forgotten God. When fear showed up, David knew where to turn.

Four connected Bible Adventures

WHEN I AM AFRAID
Kids begin with Psalm 56:3 and investigate something easy to miss: David didn’t say if he was afraid. He said when. They’ll look more closely at what Scripture says about fear, trust, and where our attention turns when we’re afraid.

FACING GIANTS
David knew something about Goliath that was bigger than the giant standing in front of him. Kids revisit 1 Samuel 17 to discover what David remembered about God, then follow the story beyond Goliath and discover something pretty amazing—David wasn’t the last giant-fighter. Courage can be contagious.

GOD IS WITH ME
Sometimes one little word changes what we notice. Kids hunt through Scripture for the word WITH and discover an important pattern behind many of God’s commands not to fear: God doesn’t merely tell His people to be brave. He reminds them that He is with them.

WHEN FEAR SHOWS UP
Kids bring their discoveries together and create a simple way to remember what is true when they’re afraid. Instead of pretending fear will never come, they’ll practice knowing what to do when it does—remember who God is, what He has said, and what is true.

This isn’t a fill-in-the-blank Bible lesson with all the answers already on the page.

The Bible is part of the Adventure.

Children are given Scripture references and encouraged to read, hunt for words, notice patterns, answer questions, and make their own discoveries using the Bible translation their family prefers.

The conversational format is designed so a strong elementary reader can explore independently, while younger children can enjoy the same Adventure with a parent, grandparent, teacher, or other grown-up reading alongside them.

It’s a natural fit for family Bible time, Christian homeschool, Sunday school, children’s ministry, small groups, or individual Bible study.

The big question: What does God’s Word tell us when we’re afraid?

The truth we discover: When we’re afraid, God is with us. We can trust Him.

Fear may show up.

Giants may look big.

But God’s people have something important to remember:

We don’t face them alone!
